Training for Bike and Barge & RSVP

I have been getting ready for two events this summer.  The first to occur is a "bike and barge" trip to the  Netherlands.  That will take place in July.  The second one is called the "RSVP" and will happen in August,  The bike and barge will have my brother Rick, my sister Carol and her partner Dru along for the excursion.  Each day of the trip we have an option of a 30 K or a 50 K bike ride to see the sights of the country. At night we are on the barge.  I do not know if the barge moves during the day and we meet it at a new location or it moves at night and we ride an out and back.  I'll let you know.

The RSVP is a two day ride starting in Seattle and ending in Vancouver B.C.  My niece and her husband Richard talked me into doing this ride.  In preparing for this great adventure I went on a ride today that was 50 miles.  Sounds like a lot but come August, we will be doing 200 miles in two days.  I have more to do .  The highlight of the ride today took place north of the town of Arlington   A bear crossed the Centenial Trail about 50 yards in front of me with two cubs scampering behind her.  A nice sight.

I'll keep you posted on the training and the trips as they happen.  With any kind of luck there will also be pictures.  But that has to wait as I left the camera in Tigard and won't be back there until the masters rowing regatta in June.  Yes I row as well.
